Email scam alert

Members have reported receiving an email, purportedly from LWVAA co-president Debbi Voss, saying something like, "I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to kindly request your assistance with a vendor payment that is due today." The sender uses Debbi's name, but not her League email address. Do not reply to this email -- it is a setup for a scam.

No League leader will ever contact you by email or text to ask you to make purchases in aid of a project.

If you receive an email from someone claiming to be from Debbi -- or from any League member -- that you suspect may be fraudulent:
  • Do not reply to the suspect message.
  • Pay close attention to the sender’s email address (if you're on a mobile device, tap the sender’s name to reveal the actual email address). If the sender’s address ends in @gmail.com, @outlook.com, or anything other than @lwvaustin.org, the request is most likely a scam.
  • Do not click any links or call any phone numbers listed in the email.
  • Contact the person who is named as the sender at a trusted email address or using a trusted phone number. You can send email to LWVAA board members using the links on the "Board Members" page or through the "Contact Us" page on our website.
  • Delete the email. Before deleting, you can report this and other email scams at https://www.reportfraud.ftc.gov/.
Please contact mbrshp@lwvaustin.org if you have any questions or concerns.

Help find sponsors for the LWVAA fundraiser

📅  March 8: TRIVIACRACY 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Central Machine Works

On International Women’s Day, we’ll gather for TRIVIACRACY -- our FIRST civics trivia fundraiser fueling the League’s Voters Guide, forums, and outreach across Central Texas.

We’re focused on securing sponsors between now and December 31 so that come January, when tickets and table sales open, we can keep the event affordable for everyone.

Whether you work for a company, run your own business, or know someone who does, this is a chance to:
  • Stand up for voters
  • Put your brand in front of a civically engaged Austin audience
  • Help make democracy accessible for all
