Announcement: League of Women Voters of the Austin Area and Travis County Clerk to hold 2026 Pet Election

Austin, Texas - The League of Women Voters of the Austin Area and the Travis County Clerk's Office present “Paws to the Polls: The Great Austin Pet Election” between Gus the Cat and Franklin the Dog. Pet election block parties will be held starting in Pflugerville on June 13 and running throughout the summer in eight locations around Austin and Travis County. These no-cost, all-ages block parties will have rowdy candidate debates and voting on actual voting machines. Anyone eight years old and up can vote in this mock election. The block parties will also feature games and activities, popcorn, Kona Ice snow cones, face painting, and an opportunity to take a photo with your candidate’s cut-out. These events are great for new voters as they can help demystify the voting process before the 2026 Midterm Elections. Voter registration and information will also be available onsite.
